The River, Father's Day and Lake Arrowhead

My last day of school was Friday, June 18th and that afternoon we were river bound. A friend was gracious enough to let us (my family and the Spreccos) stay at his house in Yuma. We were on a sand bar playing in the water by late afternoon. The kids loved the river, but Grayson HATED wearing his life jacket. Suck it up, son. It's the law. We went back to the river on Saturday morning and stayed until around 1ish. On our way home, we stopped by my parents' house in El Centro and had dinner with my sister's family and my parents. After dinner we all went over to see my grandpa for a surprise visit.

On Sunday, we went out to breakfast with Jerry's parents and grandparents. After that, we came home and had a quiet day at the house. Jerry had received a present the weekend before (the flip video camera). Side note: I was going to try to download some videos but it wasn't in my purse this morning. After thinking that I may have lost it (gasp!), I called Jerry to find out that he took it to work, so no videos this time.

My parents were going to Lake Arrowhead on Monday, so Grayson and I tagged along. They are looking to buy a vacation house in the area (which would be perfect for us since we have relatives that live there). We looked at six houses with the real estate agent (who just happens to know my Auntie Margie and Uncle Bill---but then again, they know everyone up there). I learned the difference between foreclosures and short sales. Common phrases of the morning included, "Put that one on the list!", "Nice, but not what we're looking for." and just plain "No." Then we went to my aunt and uncle's house to have lunch with them and my cousin, Jackie. Auntie Margie is Grayson's great-great aunt. She is my grandma's younger sister and she has always been like a grandma to me and my sister. The love was very evident when we got there as she had suckers, popsicles, cookies and fruit waiting for Grayson. Hence, the picture on this post. This was the first time Grayson had ever had a sucker and of course, he loved it. After lunch, my dad, Jackie and I went window house shopping around the area and we stopped by the hidden jewel of Deer Lodge Park (Jackie's house). When we left, we went to another cousin's house in the Twin Peaks area. My cousin Cheri has remodeled her house and it is gorgeous.

One nice thing about getting a vacation house in the area (besides the family get-togethers) is having a baby sitter on the hill. Cheri's daughter Cady is 10 years old. I told her that once all of my kids are potty trained, then she's hired!
